The Coffee House at West End

Houston, Texas

In an effort to create a community gathering space while preserving the building’s historical significance, West End Church undertook a renovation project on the 9,728 SF structure originally built in 1930. During the renovation, the former three-story building was transformed into a two-story layout. The original second floor was converted into a mezzanine, providing an additional area for people to come together and connect. Furthermore, a rooftop deck was constructed, offering a picturesque view of the Houston skyline and serving as a venue for special events. To ensure optimal acoustic conditions for hosting music events, improvements were made to the building’s sound quality. These enhancements contribute to creating an enjoyable and immersive experience for attendees. The renovation efforts have garnered recognition, as it was named a finalist in the Special Project category of the Houston Business Journal’s 2022 Landmark Awards. This acknowledgment highlights the successful transformation of the building into a unique and noteworthy space within the community.
