Medical Towers Get New Life As Hotel
The Westin Houston Medical Center features all the trappings of a contemporary luxury hotel: mid-century modern furniture, exposed steel I-beams and a rooftop terrace with a resort-style pool overlooking Rice University and the Museum District.
But the modern vibe of Houston’s newest hotel belies its location — in one of the oldest office towers in the Texas Medical Center.
The historic Medical Towers, one of the first glass-and-steel podium-style office buildings in Houston, has been given a second life as a 273-room Westin hotel in the heart of the medical district. The new hotel, at 1709 Dryden, opened last month.
