MFAH Conservation Center

Houston, Texas

The Sarah Campbell Blaffer Foundation Center for Conservation was one part of the major campus redevelopments for the Museum Fine Arts Houston, which will transform the existing campus. Conservators are responsible for the overall care of artworks, conservation treatment, and establishing safe environmental conditions. They work with other museum staff to ensure safe handling, display, and storage of the museum collection. The new 23,796 SF facility has been constructed atop the existing Fannin Street parking Garage, allowing the Conservators direct access to the other campus facilities. The project location required relocation of the existing cooling towers and emergency generators.
