The City of Houston - City Hall Visitor’s Center Repositioning modernized a 7,000 SF space on the first floor of the historic 1939 City Hall into a Multipurpose Hall. Given the numerous renovations over the decades and lack of accurate as-built documentation, CEG performed comprehensive field investigations throughout the design and construction process to ensure a precise approach.
The project included the installation of new air handling units, restrooms, and upgraded lighting to enhance functionality while preserving the building’s integrity. Since surrounding offices remained operational during construction, carefully planned phasing was required to minimize disruptions. This adaptive reuse project, led by Gensler, showcases a successful integration of modern MEP engineering within a historic municipal landmark.
