To meet the growing needs of St. Clare of Assisi Catholic Church, the Family Life & Education Building was developed as a versatile, multi-purpose facility. Spanning 28,000 SF, the new addition was primarily driven by the need for additional classrooms but was designed to serve multiple functions, ensuring flexibility for a variety of church activities.
The facility includes multi-purpose classrooms, a gymnasium, a resource center that doubles the existing library, a computer lab, a youth activity room, and a catering kitchen. Additional features such as movable partitions, adaptable lighting solutions, and outdoor canopies maximize the functionality of the space. A unique indoor/outdoor fireplace and an expanded exterior narthex enhance the connection between indoor and outdoor gathering areas, allowing for greater use of the existing 5,050 SF courtyard.
This expansion coincided with the 20th anniversary of the church’s school and required an expansion of the chilled water plant to support the new facility. Designed by Studio Red Architects and completed in 2015, the $5.5 million project provides a dynamic, adaptable space that fosters both education and community engagement within the parish.
