The historic Medical Towers in the Texas Medical Center was redeveloped into a 382,000 SF full-service hotel, revitalizing one of Houston’s early modern glass-and-steel high-rise buildings. The 18-story adaptive reuse transformed the structure into a 273-room Westin hotel while maintaining its mid-century architectural character.
The renovation introduced a comprehensive hospitality program including guest rooms and suites, restaurant and bar space, retail, outdoor terraces, a health club, and an elevated pool deck with panoramic city views.
Mechanical, electrical, plumbing, and fire protection systems were carefully integrated within the constraints of the existing high-rise structure, requiring detailed coordination to modernize infrastructure, improve energy performance, and support contemporary hospitality amenities within the limitations of the original building envelope and structural framework.
