The Alief Neighborhood Center, a LEED v4 Silver 71,551 SF facility, was constructed by the City of Houston within the 37-acre Alief Park. This $52 million, two-story building is the first-of-its-kind multi-service facility, housing Health and Human Services, Parks and Recreation, and the Hennington-Alief Regional Library.
Designed as a multi-generational hub, the center features a Women, Infant, and Child (WIC) office on the first floor and the relocated Hennington-Alief Regional Library on the second floor. The surrounding park has been completely redesigned, offering soccer fields, football fields, baseball fields, tennis courts, a skate park, basketball courts (indoor and outdoor), an outdoor trail, an indoor track, a fitness center, an art garden, an outdoor pool, a playground, and an event lawn. Community engagement is further enhanced with multipurpose rooms, staircase seating in the lobby, and both indoor and outdoor meeting spaces.
Designed by EYP, the Alief Neighborhood Center serves as a model for future community-centered developments in Houston.
