Project Completion2017
Collaborative Engineering Group completed a comprehensive one-line diagram, arc flash, and fault current coordination study of the campus medium-voltage distribution system at Sam Houston State University, including feeder sizing, transformer ratings and impedances, and downstream equipment across 35 campus buildings.
Information was compiled from existing documentation, campus staff, and field verification to accurately model the electrical distribution system. Using updated breaker and relay settings, CEG performed fault coordination and arc flash analyses, identifying necessary adjustments and documenting system performance. Visual inspections were conducted to identify code deficiencies, and recommendations for corrective action were provided.
Updated reports detailing breaker settings, fault currents, and safety improvements were delivered. Composite one-line diagrams were developed for each building campus-wide, and floor plans were updated to reflect electrical equipment locations. Arc flash warning labels were installed on electrical equipment throughout the campus to enhance safety and compliance.
