The Chinese Community Center in Houston, Texas, is a multi-ethnic organization dedicated to serving people of all backgrounds. As part of the campus master plan, the project included the addition of a new 22,000 SF Senior Building, extensive site improvements, and the renovation of an existing storage building into a dedicated youth activity space.
The Senior Building is a multi-purpose facility designed for the Center’s adult day care program. It features activity rooms, exam rooms, sleeping facilities, a café and commercial kitchen, community meeting rooms, and a performance space. Outdoor enhancements include a senior recreation area, a playground for the licensed children’s day care program, and an additional playground for older children.
Designed by Studio Red Architects and completed in May 2019, the facility meets Texas Department of Aging and Disability standards while adhering to a value-conscious budget.
