As a key component of the Houston Zoo’s 20-year master plan, the Cypress Circle Café underwent a transformational redevelopment, aligning with the zoo’s mission to promote wildlife conservation and sustainability. The project introduced experiential zones showcasing ecosystems from Texas and around the world, creating a more immersive experience for visitors.
The Green Restaurant Certified café was designed to offer locally sourced, sustainable fare, emphasizing wholesome, family-friendly meals while minimizing environmental impact. The newly renovated 10,000 SF space includes a 5,000 SF servery, 2,000 SF kitchen, and 2,400 SF indoor dining area, as well as restrooms and a spacious outdoor seating area. Covered outdoor seating totals 8,200 SF under an existing roof, with an additional 2,800 SF of shaded space added.
By transforming the Cypress Circle Café into a signature gathering place, the project enhances the visitor experience while supporting environmental sustainability and conservation efforts.
