After more than three decades at its Rice Village location, Main Street Theater underwent a comprehensive renovation, revitalizing its 5,700 SF facility. The redesign focused on modernizing the space while maintaining the theater’s intimate and welcoming atmosphere.
Key improvements included replacing the lobby storefront with energy-efficient glazing, enhancing natural light and thermal performance. Additionally, new MEP (mechanical, electrical, and plumbing) systems were installed, significantly improving comfort, efficiency, and sustainability for both performers and audiences.
Designed by Lake|Flato Architects and completed in 2015, this $1.8 million transformation ensures Main Street Theater continues to serve as a vibrant cultural hub for Houston’s theater community, offering an enhanced experience for artists and patrons alike.
