Collaborative Engineering Group provided MEP engineering for the Sarah Campbell Blaffer Foundation Center for Conservation as part of the Museum of Fine Arts, Houston campus redevelopment. The specialized facility supports art conservation and collections care, requiring precise control of temperature, humidity, air quality, and system reliability.
The 23,796 SF building was constructed atop the existing Fannin Street Parking Garage, introducing significant structural and phasing constraints. CEG engineered the relocation of critical infrastructure, including cooling towers and emergency generators, while maintaining continuous museum operations.
CEG’s design integrates controlled HVAC systems, robust power and backup strategies, and coordinated utilities to deliver stable environmental conditions within a constrained urban site, supporting long-term preservation and operational goals.
