Located in the heart of Midtown Houston, the Midtown Arts and Theater Center Houston (MATCH) serves as a vibrant, multi-purpose arts venue dedicated to fostering creative expression and community engagement. Spanning 46,000 SF, the facility houses four indoor theatrical spaces, including three black box theaters and a 350-seat proscenium theater, along with two rehearsal spaces and a multi-tenant exhibition gallery.
Designed by Lake|Flato Architects, MATCH is composed of two interconnected structures, linked by a breezeway featuring bleacher-style seating, which creates an inviting space for outdoor performances, informal gatherings, and community interaction. The breezeway also incorporates a large overhead fan, ensuring comfort in Houston’s warm climate.
Completed in 2015 with a $13 million budget, MATCH has become a cornerstone for Houston’s performing arts scene, hosting a diverse range of theater, music, dance, and visual arts events. The project’s thoughtful design has earned prestigious awards, including the 2017 Texas Society of Architects/AIA Design Award and the 2017 ULI Houston Development of Distinction Award.
