The Newton Gresham Library at Sam Houston State University has been transformed through a $12.4 million renovation, marking the largest update in over 50 years. Focused on enhancing student learning and collaboration, the project updated 67,000 SF across the first and second levels of the library.
A key component of the renovation was integrating the Academic Success Center, which provides essential academic support services, including math and writing tutoring, supplemental instruction, peer mentoring, and specialized first-year student programs. The redesign also improved study spaces, reorganized the physical library collections, and introduced modern collaborative areas for student and faculty interaction.
Designed by Shepley Bulfinch and completed in September 2021, this renovation ensures the Newton Gresham Library remains a central hub for academic success and innovation at Sam Houston State University.
